SAMSON FILMS is a film & TV production company based in Dublin.
Most recently, the company has produced a Finnish co-production titled MY SAILOR, MY LOVE. This is the English language debut of Oscar nominated director Klaus Häro and it is presently completing post-production. Earlier this year Samson co-produced WITNESS NO.3, a TV series with Story Films (UK) directed by Diarmuid Goggins for Channel Five and All3Media. The company also produced HOLY ISLAND by Robert Manson, an experimental drama made for the Arts Council and IFI.
Currently in post production is feature documentary THE GHOST OF RICHARD HARRIS, directed by Adrian Sibley, for Sky Arts and Screen Ireland.
Recent award winning titles include FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY, by Carmel Winters (2018), which won the FIPRESCI Discovery Prize at Toronto International Film Festival, ROSE PLAYS JULIE (2019) by Joe Lawlor & Christine Molloy which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival & WILDFIRE by Cathy Brady (2020), which had its World Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival and was subsequently nominated for five IFTA Awards, winning for Best Director and Best Actress in a Lead Role (Nika McGuigan).
As well as developing its own film and TV drama material, Samson also acts as a co-producer and executive producer on a wide range of Irish, European and International feature film projects.The company has been awarded Slate Funding by Creative Europe on a number of occasions, most recently in 2021. Samson has also received Screen Ireland Slate Funding.
The managing director, David Collins, is a founding member of the European Film Academy and has also regularly served on the boards of ACE and Screen Producers Ireland.
